Overwhelming interest and difficulties
27.10.2010
Two recent telephone conversations with Batuz gave the following picture concerning his stay in Afghanistan:
a) He is overwhelmed by the interest and attention shown to him by the Afghan personalities he met,
including the Governor of Balkh (Mazar-e Sharif) - Atta Mohammed Noor, the head of the Blue Mosque in Mazar-e Sharif - Haji Atiqullah,
the Chancellor of Balkh University - Prof. Habibulla Habib, and numerous others.
b) The Bundeswehr (German armed forces) are providing valuable logistic support for which Batuz is grateful.
But he also feels that there are still forces at work that are critical of the project and try to put obstacles in the way of its realization.
c) The human chain consisting of soldiers from many countries serving in Afghanistan was originally supposed to be formed in an army camp.
It was symbolically first to establish and then to dissolve an imaginary border. But now it seems questionable whether this will be permitted -
again for alleged security reasons. An alternative would be to go into the mountains - and form the chain there by Afghan citizens from all the
different regions of the country.
d) There is a considerable media interest in the activities of Batuz. Among others, the Deutsche Welle will report about them.

A Breakthrough
by Batuz
19.10.2010
Not only have I achieved to get 15 different nations and the Afghan population together but I also managed to establish
a lasting dialogue with military, educational and religious leaders as well as Afghan civilians.
This will help for a continuous cultural exchange and better understanding.
I believe that Afghanistan, a country defined by borders, is the most convincing example where the methods of Société Imaginaire can be applied.
It is a great opportunity to help the population through communication through art in order to overcome the differences.
We should not only think about terrorism, but we should think about the people, meet the people themselves.
Realizing that they are also humans and live lives will help us to lift the borders.
It is not possible for you to come here and meet the people in person.
But let our cultural peace project and its goal for communication on behalf of you all become a sign for a better future understanding.
