The Call from Batuz to Global Artists for Peace
After my first call I believe it is necessary to inform you about the main goals of our meeting and how we will proceed to achieve them. The actual situation of the world is that dozens of conflicts arise because of differing views on religion, politics, etc, but first and foremost, because of the way people live – their culture. The Société Imaginaire through its projects, Communication through Art, has demonstrated clearly and successfully that it works to overcome these conflicts. Art is universal! Idealistic in its goals and gives us a most neutral platform to bring together the most extremely estranged elements. Our upcoming event is very important to me and the future of this idea. The place purposely selected is important in that it is the only natural and free border throughout all of North and South America – called Frontera de la Paz, Livramento y Rivera. The population there communicates through a common language combining the two languages from both sides of the border known as Portunol. The veterans of the working center Altzella who had years of experience with similar projects, will be present to guide and encourage the participants. The populations on both sides of the border are natural partners in this endeavor since to be global means open, free and tolerant – they carry all these preconditions in their hearts. The military on both sides have given me enthusiastic signals to participate in our program carried out over several days. As I said, the world needs a healthy and naturally predisposed population willing to demonstrate the desire to individually communicate with each other the same conviction for global peace as the members of the peace missions of the UN. Thus bringing the civilian individuals in communication with the young soldiers who are offering their lives so that we all can live freely and in peace, to create artworks together which visualizes clearly this goal. All of us will come together, the military, the international guests and the local population on both sides of the border, painting in the most central place of town huge carpets that represent through its message the abolishing of borders. Everybody is invited to turn war helmets into a symbol of peace. By painting a surface above each helmet and turning this helmet through this action with their own hands into a work of art. This way these helmets can serve for us to demonstrate for peace and also will remain an element, a living message because we will carry them on our heads and form a border which will be photographed and filmed from a helicopter to get this message of ours to the world. Needless to say this gathering will make for each of us a holiday in our lives by meeting similar minded people sharing our affinities. I myself look forward to seeing you there. |
