The "Global Artists for Peace" initiative to be administrated on the border action between Livramento and Rivera on November 30, 2013 is an extension of the Société Imaginaire’s ongoing "no más fronteras" projects.
Specifically following the proven methods implemented in past projects, this extension brings together international participants with local residents on both sides of the border in another development of Batuz’ ongoing research with the Société Imaginaire.
Creating together and individually various works of art, the participants gain a first hand experience of the Société Imaginaire’s mission in bringing like minded people together with an aim at studying the progress of culture and peace.
The unparalleled conditions prevalent between the two communities of Rivera and Livramento, two cities who share a completely open international border, provides an exceptional example of how people from two nations can live in absolute peace and harmony. The citizens of both sides do not conceive the border as a divisive line but one that unites.
Batuz and the Société Imaginaire through all of its projects applies the method of “Communication through Art” with the aim to raise awareness of this human condition necessary to ensure those rights these two communities maintain.
The "Global Artists for Peace" project is being initiated in this unique location exactly because it serves as a model for others around the world to assimilate.
We have been brought here to learn from one another and to give something back to this experience. In this sense the art projects offered in the program provide a vehicle to initiate this.
